Back to "Riding" School Special Series for Hood River Saddle Club Members

When: Every Thursday for the Month of Sept 2009

Time: 5:30 - 6:30 pm

What: An hour of basic horsemanship, focusing on safety and control in the HRS Arena.

Who: Eloise Russell and Megan Davis will be your ground help.

Eloise’s background is Hunter/Jumper with 6 years of working for a cutting horse trainer in the mix. Megan currently focuses on Eventing but has a diverse equestrian background, ranging from gaming to saddle fitting.

The first barrel racing event at the club had a great turnout of 20 riders last week! Come join in on the fun!! Every Wed night through August & September.

Wednesday nights beginning tonight and running through Sept we will have barrel racing at the Hood River Saddle Club arena. The arena will not be available for open riding during this time.

The races are open to everyone who would like to participate so bring your horse and come give it a try! These races are all 5D which means there are many more chances for winning. The way a 5D works is that there are brackets beginning with the fastest time and then every 1/2 second below that for 5 total divisions. There will also be "time only" runs before the race begins. You can use this to practice & fine tune while your horse is in a race environment.

Race Begins @ 7pm, entries close when race begins.
NW5D prime - BRN4D & OBRA Co-Approved.
$25 entry fee, $2 BRN4D points, $2 OBRA points, $5 office/arena fee, $3 time only

Quick BIG shout out thanks to.... Todd from York Hill Stables, Dave Paash, Ken Hanson and Dave R for working on the ARENA for the past year. It's super level and the depth is 3.5 - 4 inches of wonderful sand.

Time to get riding.

*** Also please remember - if you set up anything like Barrels or poles or jumps - please be courteous and take them back down when you are done!!! This will help us keep the arena dragged and in the best condition possible ****

Hi all!
It may still be wet and ugly out - but we are busy at the Saddle Club filling up the 2009 Calander with horsey activities!

Come and eat spaghetti with us on April 4, 5 to 8 pm. This is our Annual Scholarship Spaghetti Feed. It's all you can eat: Spaghetti, Salad, Garlic Bread, Beverage, & Dessert.

Adults are just $7 and 6-12 yrs old are only $5. Contact Helen Hansen 541-386-5913 for more info!

And on May 2nd & 3rd Come and show with us or just watch an OPEN SCHOOLING SHOW & PLAY DAY which is a fundraiser benefit for Hood River High School Equestrian Team & Wy’East Wranglers 4-H Club.

Yes it seems like it really is here (SPRING that is)! I was updating the site looking for a new picture for the top page and Barb and Linn Winans came by with their wonderful minis! Just had to share.

Also welcome to our new Blog. We will try and keep you up to date as best we can here. So come back often and join us either virtually or in person. Next meeting is April 1. Don't be a "fool" and miss it.
